Installation
The fastest way to start a league is the guided setup at heir.gg/start — it configures everything in about a minute and activates your league immediately. No approval step, no waiting.
Setup asks one question up front: do you want a Discord server, or not?
- With Discord — teams are Discord roles, captains can use slash commands, and the bot runs matchmaking and stat tracking in your server.
- Web only — a league that lives entirely on heir.gg, with no Discord server and no bot required.
Either way, every league gets the whole platform — teams, ratings, and weekly scheduling, tournaments, and the Crowns prediction economy. There's no league-vs-tournaments choice to make and nothing to switch on later.
With Discord
Sign in
Go to heir.gg/start and sign in with Discord. Heir only asks for your identity — never your server list, never your email.
Describe your league
Pick your game, regions, match nights, series format, and roster size. Everything except the game can be changed later.
A league runs exactly one game, and the choice locks when setup completes. Running two games means running two leagues — each gets its own server.
Add Heir to your server
Click Add to Discord. Discord shows you the servers you manage; pick the one this league lives in. You'll come straight back to the wizard — your answers are saved, even if you close the tab.
On joining, Heir creates its channels (read-me, matchmaking, scores, leaderboard, logs) and the three league roles: Organizer, Captain, and Free Agent.
Pass the checks
The wizard verifies your server is actually ready: Heir's permissions, its role position, the league roles, and slash-command access. Anything that needs fixing is shown with exactly what to do about it — fix it and re-check.
These checks don't disappear after setup: the same diagnosis is one click away at Manage → Discord → Connection → Detect issues, for whenever the bot seems to have stopped working. See the Discord health check.
Pick a plan and finish
Choose Free (everything a league needs, no card) and finish. Your league activates immediately — activation never waits on billing.
Web only
Sign in
Sign in with Discord at heir.gg/start — your Discord account is still your Heir account, you just won't connect a server.
Name your league
Give the league a name.
Pick a plan and finish
Choose a plan and finish. The league is created on the spot — no bot to invite,
no permission checks — and you land straight in it as the owner. Teams are
records you create from the web, and everything is managed at
heir.gg/<league>/manage.
A web-only league can't run in-game stat tracking (that needs the bot on a game server), but everything else — teams, ratings, schedules, tournaments, and public profiles — works the same.
After setup
- Players grab the Free Agent role from
#get-roles(Discord leagues), or are added to teams directly on the web. - Captains create teams —
/team createin Discord, or the team tools on the web. - Players link their game account with
/identity link, or from their account settings on the web.
Changed your mind?
- Start over (bottom of the wizard) discards your draft and begins again.
- Cancel on a Discord league removes everything: Heir deletes the channels and roles it created, removes the league's records, and leaves your server. Deleting a web-only league removes its records. Cancelling before the install just clears the draft.
For Discord leagues, only the server owner can run setup or cancel it. Once the league is live, day-to-day management opens up to Organizers too — see League Management.
